We are A + J, a young couple in our first house. A is grad student, and J works with power tools. A’s background is in archaeology; she’s had a lifelong fascination with the past, and all things old. J isn’t afraid of anything, including astonishing heights, mysterious sludge, and spiders. We have combined our superpowers, and are reimagining our century-old row house! Our Chocolate Lab is along for the ride, as long as there are treats. Cute dogs, delicious food, and extraordinary scenery often gets in the way of our progress.
As incurable DIYers, our aim is to renovate and decorate in a cost-effective way, without compromising quality and style. We embrace our home’s history, and strive to maintain a balance between its original character and modern function.
In January 2010, A was diagnosed with SLE (lupus). Abilities are ever-changing, and often affect the energy put into our home. We hope that our blog will demonstrate our trials and triumphs in renovating through chronic illness!
Heritage Row Reno is our way of sharing this process with family and friends, and everyone else interested in the renewal of old houses, and creating a home!
